Is my voice recorded?

Short answer

No. Your speech is turned into text on your phone, by the phone's own speech recognition. Audio is never stored or sent anywhere; only the text stays in the app.

Steps

iPhone

  1. The microphone permission is asked the first time you tap the mic; if you'd rather not, don't allow it and type instead.
  2. To change it later, open iPhone Settings → Apps → Brizemi.
  3. Turn Microphone and Speech Recognition on or off.

Android

  1. The microphone permission is asked the first time you tap the mic; if you'd rather not, don't allow it and type instead.
  2. To change it later, open Android Settings → Apps → Brizemi → Permissions.
  3. Tap Microphone and allow or remove it.
  • On iPhone, iOS turns your speech into text on the iPhone itself. On Android, Android's on-device speech recognition does it (Android 12 and later); cloud recognition is never used.
  • Audio is never written to a file and never sent to us or anyone else.
  • The first time, iOS or Android may download the speech model for your language once from Apple or Google. That download carries none of your voice.
  • Cards are then made from the text on your phone too.
  • On iPhone, the text of a Brain dump is deleted once you accept the plan, or after 24 hours at most.

You never have to use the microphone: you can type the same things, and everything else works the same.
