When focus is hard

A day when it's hard to start

For days when you just can't get going: the first thing is small and quick, the day is short, and what doesn't fit waits in Parked, not on your conscience.

Brain dumpToday
I can't get going today, my head's all over the place.
Rent has to go out today, it's the last day.
The report is due Friday. Today it's enough to just start it.
Check the important emails, not all of them.
Do the dishes, ten minutes.
Drop the parcel off at the post office.
Phone call with Sam at 3pm.
I wanted to sort out the wardrobe, but probably not today.

Paste it into Dump in Brizemi, or say it in your own words. Change the times and things to fit you.

How to use it

  1. 1

Copy the dump, or rewrite it with your own things.

  2. 2

Open Dump in Brizemi and paste; the things become cards. Sort them into Must, Could and Park.

  3. 3

Brizemi builds the day around your calendar, with breathing room in between. When the day slips, tap Rescue.

Tips for this day

  • Add Steps to the report card and make the first one almost silly small: "open the file", "write the title", "three bullet points". One step is enough to get going.
  • When you sit down to the report, turn on Focus and aim for just one round: 25 minutes of work, 5 minutes of break. If a second round happens, good; if not, that's fine.
  • If it's midday and nothing has started, tap Rescue and choose a lighter day: the rent and the call stay, everything else waits in Parked.
  • Parked things don't disappear, and nothing counts them. In the evening, Close the day shows you only what you did get done.

Why this day is built this way

On days when you can't get started, the problem is rarely the size of the work. It's that the first step is unclear. When focus is hard, a card that says "write the report" pushes you away from the desk. So this day opens with something small that is sure to get done: paying the rent takes fifteen minutes and it's due today. Having finished one thing makes it easier to sit down to the report.

The goal for the report is to start, not to finish: forty-five minutes, broken into small steps. The day is short on purpose; the afternoon has only the post office and a call at a fixed time. Things like the wardrobe wait in Parked. Being there isn't a failure. It's an honest picture of what fits today.

If you have this day often

If this is a day you have often: when it goes well, tap "Save this day as a template" in Close the day, and next time it sets up in one tap (Day templates, Pro).

Questions people ask

What if even the first step of the report doesn't happen today?

Then the report waits in Parked; you have until Friday. Give the card a Due date so the date stays in view, and pick it up tomorrow with one small step.

Why is the day so short?

On days when starting is hard, a full plan breaks in the first hour and makes the rest feel heavier. A short day can actually be finished; if energy shows up, add something from Parked.

When the day slips, rescue it in one tap

Brizemi turns what's on your mind into a realistic day and rebuilds the rest when the day falls apart. Rescue is always free.
