A cleaning and chores day

For anyone giving a weekend day to the house: the heavy cleaning goes first, the engineer's visit stays fixed, and you leave for the evening without rushing.

Brain dumpToday
Saturday, house day.
Clean the bathroom, an hour.
Put a wash on, hang it out when it's done.
Boiler service at 11, takes about an hour.
Hoover the whole flat, an hour.
Wipe down the kitchen: worktops, hob, inside of the fridge.
Fix the broken cupboard door, half an hour.
Take out the bins and the recycling.
We're going to my parents' at 5.
Sort the wardrobe and put the summer clothes away if there's time.

Paste it into Dump in Brizemi, or say it in your own words. Change the times and things to fit you.

How to use it

  1. 1

Copy the dump, or rewrite it with your own things.

  2. 2

Open Dump in Brizemi and paste; the things become cards. Sort them into Must, Could and Park.

  3. 3

Brizemi builds the day around your calendar, with breathing room in between. When the day slips, tap Rescue.

Tips for this day

  • Add Steps inside the kitchen card: "worktops, hob, fridge". If you stop halfway, the card shows where you left off.
  • Mark the bathroom as Tiring; Brizemi puts tiring things in the morning, when your energy is highest.
  • If the engineer is late, tap Rescue: the visit and the evening stay where they are, the rest of the day is rebuilt, and what doesn't fit gets parked.
  • Jobs that come round on the same day every week, like bin day, can be added as a repeat; Repeats and Ready routines are Pro.

Why this day is built this way

A house day looks easy, because none of the jobs is hard on its own. What makes it tiring is that they all land on one day, with an engineer's visit splitting it down the middle. This day puts the heaviest job, the bathroom, in the morning and starts the washing just before it, so the wash is done when the bathroom is.

The boiler service has a fixed time; instead of starting something new during that hour, the day opens up again after lunch. Hoovering and the kitchen sit in Must, while the cupboard door and the bins are Could things. The visit at five is fixed, so there's a gap between the last job and leaving. The wardrobe didn't fit today; it waits in Parked, and the summer clothes can wait another week.

If you have this day often

If this is a day you have often: when it goes well, tap "Save this day as a template" in Close the day, and next time it sets up in one tap (Day templates, Pro).

Questions people ask

Do I have to get the whole place done in one day?

No. Brizemi fills a day to about 70% at most; what doesn't fit waits in Parked, and you can bring it into your next house day.

What if I'd rather spread chores over weekday evenings?

You can spread things across the days in This week (Pro). On the free version, a short dump each evening and picking one or two jobs works too.

When the day slips, rescue it in one tap

Brizemi turns what's on your mind into a realistic day and rebuilds the rest when the day falls apart. Rescue is always free.
