Notifications, alarms and Focus

How does Focus work?

Short answer

Focus splits the task that's on now into rounds of 25 minutes of work and a 5-minute break (or 50+10). Rounds fit inside the time set aside, so your plan never moves. It's free in the app; the Lock Screen countdown is part of Pro.

Steps

  1. While a task is on, tap Focus · 25-min round on the Now card in Today.
  2. The card counts down the round's minutes. To take a pause, tap Pause, then Resume; to leave it, tap Stop.
  3. When a round ends, the break starts on its own. If you'd rather not wait, tap Skip the break.
  4. When the task is done, tap the card's Done button.
  5. To change the round length, go to Settings → Look & language → Focus rounds and pick 25 min + 5 min break or 50 min + 10 min break.

Focus shows only on a task that's on now with at least 10 minutes left; not on calendar events or routines. The last round gets shorter or longer so it ends with the task. Pausing doesn't move the plan either: when you resume, the time left is split into rounds again. If you need more time, the card has Need a bit more.

A notification comes when a round or break ends; with the app open, a short sound plays instead (it follows the Sounds and Haptics switches). These don't count toward the daily limit. While a round runs, Brizemi's other notifications wait until it ends; Don't-miss alarms don't wait.

When you close the day you see one line: "Focused for 1 hr 15 min". No scores, streaks or comparisons.

Seeing the countdown on the Lock Screen is part of Pro: in the Live Activity on iPhone, in the "What's on now" notification on Android.
